The Control Engineering Division is one of the four divisions of the Institute of Automatic Control of the Lodz University of Technology. In their didactic and research work, the Control Engineering Division team have been dealing with analog and digital control elements and systems for many years.
The main research areas of the Control Engineering Division are related to the following topics:
- designing microprocessor systems and electronic circuits for industrial applications,
- computer-aided modeling of industrial processes,
- development of control algorithms for systems operating on the basis of PLC programmable controllers,
- designing automation systems using software packages: Matlab - Simulink, PSIM, Pspice - OrCAD, Scilab, AutoCAD,
- design and programming of embedded systems based on cores of STM, TMS, ARM, PIC and other central units.
In recent years, the scientific and research topics of the Control Technology Department have focused on issues related to the application of control theory in electric drives with microprocessor control using signal microprocessors and in industrial automation systems using programmable controllers.
The Control Technology Plant can boast of several interesting proprietary solutions made in cooperation with the industry. Belong to them:
- microprocessor relays for protection and control purposes,
- microprocessor thermal energy meter,
- algorithm and software controlling the target braking of the Metropolis train for the Warsaw Metro,
- method of diagnosing input signals for the visualization and control system,
- vector control system with a signal processor for traction (tram and trolleybus) inverter drives with induction motors,
- a control system in the district heating system in Łódź, allowing continuous cooperation of the EC-2 and EC-3 CHP plants on a common district heating main.
